BATTERY-OPERATED FINGERPRINT/KEYPAD
BOLT LOCK FOR HOME USE
ZK Technology LLC launched a battery-operated
fingerprint/keypad bolt lock for home and small
office use under the Scilox brand. The rugged,
high-security and bump-proof BL100 deadbolt has advanced
fingerprint technology and an illuminated keypad for easy vis-
ibility. Users can open a door by the touch of a finger or by enter-
ing a four-digit PIN or with a traditional key. The BL100 is ideal
for side and back door, interior garage entry doors, executive/
small offices, guest and housekeeping staff and storage/inventory
rooms. Installation is simple, as in most cases the existing door
does not need to be modified. BL100 runs on four AA batteries
and alerts users when battery is low. In the event of power failure,
the BL100 is also equipped with a 9 V external battery connector.

UPDATED WIDE AREA SURVEILLANCE SOFTWARE
PureTech Systems released its PureActiv Wide Area Surveil-
lance/PSIM software. PureActiv 10.0 includes an improved user
interface, with new control menu designs
and the ability to more effectively display
panoramic video sources. Other client
features include the ability to efficiently
process and display very large camera
streams and detailed map images. The ability to digitally zoom
on any live or recorded video also has been added. In addition,
PureActiv 10.0 adds the capability to indicate actual range to
target and target elevation on its map-based display, allowing for
greater situational awareness and more advanced integration with
long-range security sensors. Version 10.0 includes enhancements
to its video algorithms, allowing faster searches, secure digital
signatures and easier data collection to support prosecution.

Answer to: What’s Wrong With This?
The technician removed the pull station from the wall to examine
the wiring. It appeared the device had gone bad and someone
removed it but didn’t have a replacement device. So in order to
make the system appear normal, the previous technician altered
the wiring by removing the addressable module from the circuit.
In addition to impairing the system operation, this first technician
could be held criminally liable for such action. The current
technician replaced the device and reprogrammed the panel,
adding the device address back to the control.
